Watch as these Great Blue Hairstreak (Atlides halesus) pupae develop and emerge into stunning butterflies known for their deep blue iridescent wings and elegant tails.

These pupae are reared from eggs laid by wild females collected directly from habitat in Arizona.

Host Plant: Mistletoes (Phoradendron spp.)

Keep pupae in cool, dry conditions with an ambient photoperiod (avoid artificial light late into the night). Do not freeze. Refrigeration may delay emergence for up to two months, but diapause into spring cannot be guaranteed
